ICAI Direct Entry Scheme

Direct Entry Route refers to direct entry in the Chartered Accountancy course without appearing for the entrance level test i.e. CA Foundation. This resource will guide you on “How to register for CA Inter through ICAI Direct Entry Scheme”

I) ICAI Direct Entry Scheme – Eligibility

  1. Commerce Graduates / Post-Graduates scored a minimum aggregate of 55% marks or other graduates or Postgraduates who scored a minimum aggregate of 60% marks.
  2. Candidates who have passed the Intermediate level of the Institute of Companies Secretaries
    of India or Institute of Cost Accountants of India.

II) PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION for Final Year Students –

Candidates who are in the Final Year of Graduation can register (means it is optional) for the Intermediate course on a provisional basis (i.e before clearing their graduation)

Step 1: Provisionally register with ICAI for CA-Inter (Direct entry) 

Step 2: Register and complete 4 weeks of ICITSS (Orientation course and Information Technology).

Step 3: Pass your graduation exam 

Step 4: Submit proof of passing the graduation exam within 6 months from the date of appearance in the final year of the graduation exam

Step 5: Submit proof of completing ICITSS (Orientation course and Information Technology).

Step 6: Register for Articleship (Complete 9 months before CA Inter Exam) 

Step 7: Appear for CA Inter Exam 

In case the student fails to submit the proof of passing the graduation exam within the aforesaid period, his provisional registration shall stand cancelled and the registration fees shall neither be refunded nor shall credit be given for any amount spent.

III) Procedure for Graduates / Post-Graduates

Step 1: Register with ICAI – CA Inter (detailed procedure is explained below)

Step 2: Register and Successfully complete 4 weeks of ICITSS (Orientation Program and Information Technology) 

Step 3: Register for Articleship (Total Duration: 3 years; Out of which 9 months is to be completed before appearing for CA Inter Exam) 

Step 4: Study along with Articleship 

Step 5: Appear and clear both groups of CA Inter

Step 6: Register for CA Final after clearing both groups of CA Inter

Step 7: Undergo 4 weeks of AICITSS during the last two years of practical training but before appearing for the CA Final Examination.

Step 8: Appear for CA Final Exam in the last 6 months of Articleship

Step 9: Qualify both groups of CA Final. 

Step 10: Complete Articleship and become a Member of ICAI.

IV) Procedure for Intermediate Passed Students of ICSI/ICWA

Candidates who have passed the Intermediate level of Institute of Company Secretaries of India or Institute of Cost Accountants of India can register directly for the CA Intermediate level.

Step 1: Register for CA Inter with ICAI. The procedure for registration in the CA Intermediate for such students is the same as normal route students. (Detailed procedure is explained below)

Step 2: Undergo eight months of study period to appear in CA Intermediate Exams.

Step 3: Appear and pass either single or both groups of CA Intermediate.

Step 4: Register for the three years Articleship training on passing either single or both groups of CA Intermediate.

Step 5: Enrol for CA Final after qualifying both the groups of CA Intermediate.

Step 6: Undergo and Complete 4 weeks of AICITSS during the last two years of practical training but before appearing for the CA Final Examination.

Step 7: Appear for the CA Final Examination during the last 6 months of Articleship training.

Step 8: Qualify both the groups of CA Final.

Step 9: Complete Articleship Training.

Step 10: Become a member of ICAI.

V) Last Day for Registration

Attempt Register before

Nov  31st January

For eg. 

If you wish to appear in May 2023, then register yourself before 31st July 2022

If you wish to appear in Nov 2023, then register yourself before 31st January 2023

VI) Detailed Registration Procedure with ICAI Direct Entry Scheme

Step 1: Log in to www. icai.org. Then click on Self Service Portal

Step 2: As you are a first-time user, click First time User (New Student)? Click here

Step 3: Fill in your personal details. Fields marked in asterisks are compulsory

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  1. Please enter your SALUTATION, NAME, DOB, GENDER as per your 10th / 12th CERTIFICATE.
  2. NO CHANGE ALLOWED AFTER FORM SUBMISSION.
  3. Please enter the applicant’s own MOBILE NO. and E-MAIL id as all-important communications and OTP will be sent to the applicant.
  4. You will get a separate mail communication from Centralized Dispatch System for Study Material, through SMS / Email in 2-3 days after making the successful payment.

Step 4: The account is now created. Check your e-mail for login details and password

Step 5: Fill out the registration form online. The first step is filling in personal details

Step 6: Fill in details relating to your qualification and upload necessary documents

Note: You must upload self-attested scanned copies of your documents else your application will be liable for rejection.

If the student does not possess the ORIGINAL Mark Sheet, we alternatively accept the Internet Downloaded Statement of Marks duly Attested by the School Principal (With a STAMP), and/or A Practicing Chartered Accountant bearing his Membership Number and Signature as recorded with the Institute.
Kindly upload “Statement of marks” and “Pass Certificate” (in a single file) If the DOB is not mentioned on the Mark sheet.

Students registering provisionally on pursuing Final Year of Graduation shall have to attach a proof (bonafide Certificate) obtained from the University/College.

VII) Registration Fees

Students who choose the CA Direct Entry Route must pay ₹ 200/- in addition to the above fees for prospectus

Fees for CA Direct Entry Practical Training:

To be eligible to appear for the CA Finals, candidates must first enrol for practical training. The ICITSS is a four-week-long program, while the duration of the Articleship is three years.
